Bombarded by stiff competition in the booming hydration market, Thermor, once a pioneer in the category, approached us to develop a product to flagship their hydration range and revitalize the category.
Market Research
The market analysis revealed the convergence of two micro-movements to create a new product category. In addition to aspiring to healthier active lifestyles, many consumers want to express creativity and be more actively involved in the consumption process. As a result, the trend of infusing real fruit in water to create healthy, natural, flavorful drinks emerged. Our design team then studied the competition and looked for ways to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional fruit infuser. In addition to the long wait for flavors to infuse into the water, many fruits, like blueberries, contain their juices within the skin.
Design Execution
Our design team came up with an innovative solution that allows consumers to juice fruits into their water instantly. To achieve this, we installed an innovative infusion chamber at the bottom of the bottle. With a simple push of a food-safe silicone membrane, users can juice their fruits into the water, giving them full flavor control. All of these clever components were then encased in a BPA-free Tritan body for the ultimate flavor-infusion experience.
Thermor and Shape worked together on some very aggressive timelines to bring the Fruition Infusion Water Bottle from concept to the shelves of major Canadian retailers in under 12 months.
