Designing a Family of Sound: The Powered Monitor Project
The Challenge:
We are tasked with delivering a cohesive family of three powered monitors that scale seamlessly in size while maintaining a unified visual identity. While the initial “big idea” has been signed off, the true value of this phase lies in the refinement—bridging the gap between aesthetic vision and manufacturing reality.
The Approach:
Our process begins with immersion. We don’t just look at speakers; we look at the people who buy them. Through targeted market research and social media profiling, we seek to understand not just the audio needs, but the visual aspirations of the premium consumer. This data serves as the compass for our CMF strategy, ensuring the textures, finishes, and colors resonate deeply with the end-user.
From Sketch to Silicon:
We navigate the ideation phase with agility, utilizing rapid sketching and CAD modeling to test forms at speed. To ensure the proportions feel right across the three SKUs, we build physical and digital 3D mockups early in the process. Furthermore, our team’s firsthand experience on the factory floor means we approach the tech pack stage with a pragmatic eye, optimizing for the latest production techniques without compromising on the quality that defines the Klipsch name.
